Your m/m romance reading habits

I am attempting to survey the habits of readers of m/m romance (that’s ‘original slash’ or variants thereof, not gay fiction as a whole – so it has to be relationship heavy with a Happily or Hopefully for Now/Ever ending). I’d be grateful if you would complete this anonymous poll. Please pass the link around and ask people to drop by to complete it too.

Interesting data point, Ann. I’ll pass this on.

Wow. I would have never guessed those percentages. Very eye opening. Thanks for doing this survey, Ann. I’ll let other m/m readers know about the survey.

I would love to see a related poll about how satisfied these m/m readers are with the m/m available. Do readers feel they have to compromise on their standards in order to get their m/m fix?

I ask because personally, I wish published m/m was more like the free original slash that’s available out there–I would certainly be spending a lot more money on ebooks if it was. It just seems like that’s not the type of work that’s being chosen by m/m publishers. I wonder if anyone else feels the same.

Kendra, I’ll happily run another poll if you want to suggest the questions. But would you like to expand on this difference between pro and free fic? For instance, I (Ann Somerville) have both – if you’ve read it, is there a difference between the two?

Hi, I have always loved to read books. I always buy them 2-3 at a time. I will try just about any kind of book once. About 2yrs I went on line to look for a book and accidently found an m/m book on the website. I found other links, books, websites, blogs, and fanfics that I love. I really enjoy reading m/m. When I read a snipet of a book, if I don’t like it I won’t buy it. I now read m/m almost exclusively.
